I’m most excited about learning posing techniques and lighting to get the best photo. Hopefully improving my skills and expanding my reach to clients.

Besides lighting and posing techniques, hopefully how to interact with clients and how to make everyone comfortable.

I lived here before when I was stationed in Camp Pendleton back in 2003-05.

I love to photograph children and very small babies. They’re super precious!

On my ipod? Nothing. I’m watching iCarly with my 2 yr old (Don’t judge). But if I was listening to my Ipod it would be a mix of Maroon 5, Beyonce, and some early ’90s R&B.

I don’t have a favorite yet. I have my eye on the 85mm f1.4 Nikon lens. Sooooooo sweet!

Right now I’m in love with Pistachios. This is recent. I eat those when I’m not sneaking a mini reese’s cup behind my toddler’s back.
9. When you were a child… what did you want to be when you grew up?
It changed every year. From a teacher to doctor, nurse, lawyer, and somehow I ended up being a Marine. Now I’m thinking straight and can finally focus on photographer.
10. What one thing in life would you want to remembered for?
Just being a great mother.

1. What are you MOST excited about for the upcoming SAN DIEGO workshop?
Opportunity to see your work flow, from start to finish. Not to sound like I’m kissing up, but shooting and discussing the craft of true leaders in your field. Shooting a totally new genre for me.
2. What do you hope to learn from the DIVAS?
Selling aspects, I am fairly comfortable with the camera and lighting subjects, I am hoping to get a strong understanding of your pose flow and reasons you choose certain poses. Very interested in your “tricks o’ the trade” pose hints, selling hints etc.
3. How many times have you been to SAN DIEGO?
ONCE! and it was 45 degrees and hailing and I was only there for a day, I was very disappointed!! Hoping for classically renowned San Diego weather this time!
4. What is your FAVORITE thing to photograph?
I have grown to really try to capture the  emotions of photographing people. Hence my switch to Boudoir, I can’t think of a more emotional intimate thing to photograph than a woman trying to be her absolute sexiest and beautiful either for her or her partner. I’ve done the wedding thing and while its an emotional day there is a hectic nature that tends to take me and the subjects out of the “mood”.

I vaguely remember wanting to be many things. . . a ballerina, an acrobat, a model an actress. It seems like the most common thing was that I wanted to be KNOWN, I wanted to be famous. I wanted people to hear my name and smile in recognition. Then I became “MOM” and suddenly I realized that in my home this is exactly what happens!
10. What one thing in life would you want to remembered for?
Wow, so many things flood into my mind. Good mom, good wife, good business woman, good friend. All of these would be wonderful to be remembered as, but yet not entirely fulfilling. They are all pieces of a whole, scattered around inside, things that I strive to be. The one thing in life that is continuous throughout my day to day, is who I am inside. I am happy, I am proud, I am stronger than even I realize. I want to be known for the person that I am to everyone else around me, whether that is different or the same for each person. It is all the same inside, it is me.

Hi friends! K, Ash, Weston and I are home from our very loved WPPI! It took me a few extra days to re-coupe. I got a little sick and as I saw on the Twitter and the FB I wasn’t the only one who fell ill to the strange bug going around at WPPI. Anywho, we are home, and as one of workshop attendees said (which Deena now says constantly!) we are ready to “rock that shit.” It always feels good to get back into the swing of things.

Camille is living la vie Parisienne. And blogging about it to let us all live vicariously through her! She seems to be infatuated with all the same fancies that K n’ I are in love with too. I spent hours on her blog when I first found it awhile back and I can truly say the word “inspired” doesn’t quite fit for how I feel when I visit her site. She blogged about K and I last month, and I just composed an email to her to invite her to guest blog on our site occasionally. She is the perfect Parisienne liaison for us! Happy Holidays everyone!

I know, I know…almost every photographer we talk to about doing a Boudoir Shoot at our studio says the same thing: “Oh, no, I’m much better BEHIND the lens than in front of it!” However, we have many reasons why you SHOULD have your own boudoir shoot…let us explain our top two reasons :)

-A HUGE reason is that boudoir photography is like no other genre out there.  Your clients will be more nervous here than with any other kind of photography and it is really an amazing experience (and advantage!) to be able to say you have been in their shoes and know how they are feeling.  And you really will know how they feel!  It will help you relate to them and say the right things to make them feel at ease.

-We, along with most boudoir photographers agree, that this is truly something every woman should do at least once in her lifetime.  Who doesn’t deserve a day to feel completely spoiled and taken care of and be able to leave with a killer album to show off and remember how hot you looked that day!

Recently, Kimberlee had the pleasure to photograph another photographer.  The beautiful Tracy had attended one of our Boudoir Workshops in the past, and when she got the opportunity to come back to San Diego, she decided it was time: time for her to experience her own boudoir shoot.  Please read an article she wrote about her experience at our studio.  This article was taken from her site: Be Beautiful Photography.  She even posted some pictures of herself from her shoot on her page!  Check those out here.  Gorgeous. We are thrilled to announce that we met our goal!!! It took a bit of time but after diligently giving $5 from each shoot, we can say made our goal for the World Vision’s Girls in Crisis Fund. See our fundraising page.

Kimberlee and I love the idea of rallying our boudoir friends and all striving toward a BIG goal together. What if instead of us just starting another goal on our own, what if we all came together toward one BIG goal donating $5 per boudoir shoot toward helping other hopeful entrepreneurial women in Malawi, Africa? Together we could make a HUGE impact on the lives of women who want to do just what we do; provide for themselves and their family through their own business, their own vision and dream. Hopeful entrepreneurs are given small loans they would normally never be able to obtain because of their financial condition. They are required to pay back these loans with interest and the wonderful cycle continues with the money then given to another want-to-be business owner. Families are provided for, jobs are created, and the awful
cycle of poverty is dealt with in a real way.
