I have been gabbing and gabbing about this hot new light that Weston made and surprised me with while Kimberlee n’ I were speaking in Chicago. I just did a shoot with it last week and I was able to use my light like crazy. I loooove it. I think it give such a “fashion” vibe while still providing the flattering soft light that is needed for boudoir photography. This is Tina, a FULL PHOTO SHOOT client that was kind enough to show off her beautiful face.

More than anything we want our clients to feel like the photos are saucy. The Diva’s definition of saucy is that they have movement and major hubby appeal. In order for us to accomplish that the subjects can’t look stiff and/or bored. The hands are a bit part of that. Here is an example above. Cute little touch to the photo huh? You all have heard K and I talk about how hard it is to get away from our laptops. There is just so much to do! :) But last weekend we decided for our sanity we need to go to camping and get away from electronics. Here are some images of our wonderful trip. These last few months we have been doing our best to pick 4 images and create a set of wallets for the client as a surprise gift from us. We have always written thank you cards, but now we wanted to take it a step further. Deena is a fantabulous photographer for Woman Captured by Bouchér. She has been shooting with us for quite a while and she and Crystal, our other photographer and studio manager here, always manage to knock our socks off with the cute stuff that they come up with. She took the shots above and we have coined them as the “Deena” shot as it is always at the top of the request list from our clients!

As we have mentioned a million times because we are so excited about it, Woman Captured moved into a giant studio in May and we finally had decor and the “look” finalized in November. So we thought it was time to celebrate. More than 150+ attended and we are so grateful to all of you who took the time to come. With Christmas here, we are loving showing girls that it is ok to display classy, sexy photos in the bedroom. After all, “boudoir” means private bedroom, so steamy is good! When gals seem like they want to put something in the bedroom, but they are nervous about it, we remind that that the bedroom is meant to be a private place and anyone that saunters into your bedroom is someone you know really well. So know we almost always sell a “Night Stand Portrait.”

Even though Woman Captured began many years ago, we didn’t launch the biz with full gusto until 2006. Being that WC’s biz model accommodates up to 6 boudoir shoots per week, with multiple photographers and designers working in the studio, our goal was to make a big splash on the San Diego scene and hopefully create a “tipping point” for Woman Captured in the SD area.

We started the big launch in 2006 by creating packages that didn’t necessarily have a huge profit margin, but created a very large client and interest base. We have since dramatically increased our prices, but this initial client base generated referral after referral. I definitely can’t recommend this strategy to everyone, it really depends on your long term goals and energy level!

A few months ago we took out a loan to create a massive 2008 & 2009 marketing campaign for WC. It is this campaign that we hope will gain us enough buzz and referral momentum that we will hardly have to advertise at all in 2010. We figured instead of spreading out advertising dollars evenly year after year, it may be more effective and gain more attention to have a large marketing campaign right now, focusing on these 1-2 years. We hope this will create a “tipping point” for our boudoir studio, where the levels at which the momentum for change becomes unstoppable, or “something once rare becomes becomes rapidly and dramatically more common” (The Tipping Point, Malcom Gladwell). We will see if this is a risky move, but so far it seems to be working.
