“Believe in Beauty” is a term K and I decided on because it is just that. It is the gratitude we feel for God allowing us to have a career in which we can celebrate His beauty by using every bit of the creativity and imagination He blessed us with. These concept shoots are something that we plan months ahead and dream about even longer than that. We are so grateful to Tenley and Kiptyn for doing this shoot with us. We can’t WAIT to get our new boudoir sample album from Graphi Studio! Graphi is going to have some REALLY exciting news coming soon – we can’t give away too much, but just know that it has to do with boudoir photography and the Boudoir Divas. :) It MIGHT also have something to do with this album sample that we’re waiting to receive. Ok, enough hints. Here is our album design for one of our favorite clients – Miss Sarah. We wanted to give you a little teaser and share a few of her album spreads with you. We’ll most definitely share more pics when we receive our sample album, AND we’ll also keep you updated as soon as we’re allowed to share the exciting news from Graphi!

The Boudoir Divas team has worked so hard putting together this fun shoot, and when it finally arrived we were thrilled! This is a concept we have been dreaming of doing for quite some time. Dreamy, romantic, and a reminder of the beauty that God has so lovingly placed in all of our hearts. For a while we have had fun putting together very dramatic projects and calling them “Editorial Shoots.” While that name served its purpose, it didn’t have the overall scope for what these shoots meant to us personally as artists. So from now on we will be referring to them as,  “Believe in Beauty, a concept shoot by The Boudoir Divas.”

I cannot tell you how thrilled we are as a group to release the video/slideshow of this shoot. It will take a little bit of time, but will completely be worth it. It will feature the fabulous Tenley Molzahn & Kiptyn Locke of The Bachelor! It will feature a song by the very talented photographer AND musician (sexy huh?!) love of my life, Mr. Weston Boucher. Hair and make-up was done by the kickass Peggy Rogers. Incredible friends came to help and don tuxes and John and Norma of NR3 helped us with most of the video filming! Oh and one of the very best things, we had help from an amazing hot air balloon company, SKY SURFER! They were so helpful to work with and their balloon was gorgeous!



Another workshop is just around the corner! Literally, it is next week and we are very excited to have another great group of photographers. I don’t have a favorite yet. I have my eye on the 85mm f1.4 Nikon lens. Sooooooo sweet!

Right now I’m in love with Pistachios. This is recent. I eat those when I’m not sneaking a mini reese’s cup behind my toddler’s back.
9. When you were a child… what did you want to be when you grew up?
It changed every year. From a teacher to doctor, nurse, lawyer, and somehow I ended up being a Marine. Now I’m thinking straight and can finally focus on photographer.

Just being a great mother.

1. What are you MOST excited about for the upcoming SAN DIEGO workshop?
Opportunity to see your work flow, from start to finish. Not to sound like I’m kissing up, but shooting and discussing the craft of true leaders in your field. Shooting a totally new genre for me.
2. What do you hope to learn from the DIVAS?
Selling aspects, I am fairly comfortable with the camera and lighting subjects, I am hoping to get a strong understanding of your pose flow and reasons you choose certain poses. Very interested in your “tricks o’ the trade” pose hints, selling hints etc.
3. How many times have you been to SAN DIEGO?
ONCE! and it was 45 degrees and hailing and I was only there for a day, I was very disappointed!! Hoping for classically renowned San Diego weather this time!
4. What is your FAVORITE thing to photograph?
I have grown to really try to capture the  emotions of photographing people. Hence my switch to Boudoir, I can’t think of a more emotional intimate thing to photograph than a woman trying to be her absolute sexiest and beautiful either for her or her partner. I’ve done the wedding thing and while its an emotional day there is a hectic nature that tends to take me and the subjects out of the “mood”.

I vaguely remember wanting to be many things. . . a ballerina, an acrobat, a model an actress. It seems like the most common thing was that I wanted to be KNOWN, I wanted to be famous. I wanted people to hear my name and smile in recognition. Then I became “MOM” and suddenly I realized that in my home this is exactly what happens!
10. What one thing in life would you want to remembered for?
Wow, so many things flood into my mind. Good mom, good wife, good business woman, good friend. All of these would be wonderful to be remembered as, but yet not entirely fulfilling. They are all pieces of a whole, scattered around inside, things that I strive to be. The one thing in life that is continuous throughout my day to day, is who I am inside. I am happy, I am proud, I am stronger than even I realize. I want to be known for the person that I am to everyone else around me, whether that is different or the same for each person. It is all the same inside, it is me.

Viva Las Vegas! That’s right people, we are gearing up, packing up, and heading out to Las Vegas for the annual WPPI Trade show held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas! We are excited to offer our newest product, the Divalicious Lighting & Shooting DVD for sale at our booth this year. This project has been a long time coming and was a LOT of work, but we are really excited about how it turned out, and we can’t wait to share it with all of you!  You can check out the Lighting DVD trailer here.

Wow, this has been a CRAZY week (to say the least)!!! Remember a few weeks ago when I wrote this blog post about how many times we hear the word ‘no’…? And about how we always want to stay encouraged, not giving up… not taking ‘no’ for an answer… and just continuing to pursue our dreams… Well, this week we’ve seen the floodgates just pour open with tons of great exposure for our business here in San Diego! We’ve been on 2 local TV stations this week, 2 radio stations, and 1 high-profile blog in San Diego. So here is our encouragement to all of our photographer friends out there: Don’t give up. Get out there and write a letter to all of your local media outlets, and try to get them to do a feature on boudoir so that you can spread the word in YOUR city about how Boudoir is BACK!
