Victoria’s Secret lingerie | (they’ve been re-branding the past year!)
It may already be obvious, but M & I love marketing… branding… and buzz! This is sort of a nerdy thing to admit, but I love analyzing ads, marketing programs, and I love looking at successful businesses & trying to figure out why they are successful. There are so many different aspects that go into marketing, and it’s always so interesting to me to see how companies make marketing work for them. I ALSO think it is very intriguing to see a company go through a fresh ‘re-branding’ process.
Over the past couple of years, Marissa & I have taken notice of Victoria’s Secret, and how they have started going in a completely new direction when it comes to their marketing and catalogues. About a year ago, we started to notice the shift from ‘ultra-sexy-bombshell-vixen’ to more of a soft, French-Boudoir feeling to their images. Since that is the look that WE have always tried to capture, we were so stoked to see Victoria’s Secret ads moving in this same direction as well. We always want our boudoir photo shoots to have a look that is sexy and yet still soft, feminine, and fabulously-gorgeous!
Anyway… I recently came across this magazine article (from a year ago) that explicitly states exactly what Marissa and I had been noticing with Victoria’s Secret lingerie over the past year. I love reading business articles like this, giving us a little insider’s glimpse of what works & what doesn’t work with successful businesses.
Since V.S. has the exact same clientele that we are trying to reach with boudoir photography, we want to take notice of what they are doing in their marketing strategies. (It’s sort of showing us that we’re on the right track with the way we’ve been doing things!) :) Here’s one quote from the article that really stood out to me: “We will return to an ultra-feminine lingerie brand to meet [customer] needs and expectations.” If you’re interested,

On another note… Victoria’s Secret is having their big
semi-annual sale… now is the perfect time to stock up on your lingerie for your boudoir photography shoot, ladies! (
